exploring the shadow

Dear Reader,

Within each of us lies a ‘shadow’, the thoughts, impulses, and emotions we often prefer not to acknowledge. This shadow manifests in many ways: in our fears, our judgments, or the moments we feel triggered. It holds the parts of ourselves we struggle to accept, the feelings we push aside, and the aspects we sometimes disown.

Exploring the shadow requires curiosity and the courage to see ourselves honestly. It means asking questions like: What triggers my anger, jealousy, or shame? What parts of myself do I reject or struggle to embrace? In what ways might these hidden aspects be trying to protect me? These questions are not easy to sit with, but within them lies the key to profound self-understanding.

The more we resist our shadow, the more it controls us. When we bring it into the light, we begin to see how it shapes our behaviors, our choices, and our relationships. Acknowledging them is about awareness. And awareness is the first step toward transformation.

This week, take time to reflect. What is my shadow revealing to me? Where am I being invited to grow? The shadow does not simply show us what we have been avoiding. It points to where meaningful change can begin.

P.S. If this exploration feels overwhelming, consider engaging with a trusted therapist or taking this journey at a pace that feels safe for you. There is no rush, and you do not have to do this alone.

Yours in the journey,
